UNTAMED ROMANCE // St Kilda, Victoria
Walking through the historic, art-deco lobby into the George Ballroom is like stepping back in time. Dating back to the 1860’s this timeless, romantic venue has been lovingly restored back to it’s original charm - with wooden floorboards, signature heritage walls, high ceilings and intricate detailing, it lends itself perfectly to an uncut, opulent style setting (and we just couldn’t resist).
Using the old-world facade of the George Ballroom, we created a romantic, fluid and raw aesthetic, drawing on autumnal tones including ochre and dusty pinks, as well as luxe heritage textures like linen and unfinished silks. Antique finishes combine with modern floral arrangements of rose and hydrangea to soften the mood and add a touch of feminine elegance to the rustic surrounds.
In collaboration with many of the industry’s finest, we were lucky enough to pull this shoot together in between Melbourne lockdowns during August this year. Working with a team of extremely talented creatives is always such a delight. I can definitely say that this shoot has helped to brighten our spirits within a difficult and uncertain time for the industry.
As always, a HUGE thank you everyone involved in helping to bring this dream to life.
xx Alison
